Bordeaux is the place to be this week as grapegrowers, winemakers and wine business operators check out the latest innovations in tractors, harvesters, barrels, bottling lines, sprayers and labellers.

Vinitech-Sifel is held every two years and attracts more than 45,000 visitors.

WBM – Australia’s Wine Business Magazine is attending the exhibition.

A contingent of Australian winemakers and viticulturists incluBec Wilson have held tastings at the Australian stand. The tastings were extremely popular with crowds five-deep around the stand.

The exhibition is held in the sprawling Bordeaux Exhibition Centre.

Most of the larger stands are hosting drinks and cocktail parties for clients and prospective customers.

There is a strong focus on sustainability, robotics and efficiency.

“Renewal and innovation are the key words of this year’s packed program,” said Eric Dulong, president of Congres et Expositions de Bordeaux.

There was noticeable interest in amphora and eggs.

This Friday’s edition of The Week That Was will feature a special report on Vinitech.
