Vintage Longbottom – the next chapter

By Friday 8 March 2019No Comments

Family always comes first for inspiring mother and daughter duo Kim and Margo Longbottom as they move regions, rebrand and re-imagine the future of their unique, hand-crafted wine business.

Ten years after tragedy struck the family when husband and father Mark Longbottom lost his battle with leukemia, Kim and Margo have made the bold step of re-inventing their enduring enterprise – literally from the ground up.

Firstly, they have shifted focus from their home-base property and vineyard in South Australia’s south-east Padthaway region to McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills, where they will source top-rated fruit for their tight and much-loved set of classically styled Australian wines.

To also mark the transition, after a decade of Kim running the business alone since Mark passed away, she now welcomes her daughter Margo into the company to continue its history and look to its future.

Margo brings with her a family-instilled passion for wine as well as a vibrant new outlook stemming from her studies in fashion, digital marketing and business.

To ring the changes, this unique mother and daughter team has renamed their wine business from the original Henry’s Drive Vignerons to Vintage Longbottom and released a new set of wines that reflect the transition.

The new era in the Longbottom story is all about the vitality of family, Kim says.

“Before it’s just been about me and my late husband, but with Margo coming in there’s a natural transition underway,” Kim says.

“It’s more than just sharing the load – it’s a genuine fresh start and our next chapter.”

Under the new Vintage Longbottom branding, the traditional Henry’s Drive brand also will reposition out of Padthaway to be sourced from the McLaren Vale region while retaining its classic styling.

The H series also will continue its elegant approach with an exciting and contemporary label facelift as well as moving to fruit sources from the Adelaide Hills.

And look out for exciting new releases as the new era of Vintage Longbottom comes to life from 2019 and onwards.
