Are you a wine producer wanting to gain on-premise distribution, expose your brand to a new audience and – wait for it – get paid on time? Then you need ootra. – the exciting new cost-effective distribution channel that is about to launch in Australia.

Traditional wine distribution is certainly not for everyone. Smaller independent wineries have been searching for a new way – a fair go. Enter ootra. – an online marketplace where emerging wine producers sell to restaurants and fine wine merchants.

The ootra. app connects a community of independents in the wine industry and bypasses a sales team. It puts wine producer and customer directly in touch, encouraging them to speak freely, share knowledge, discover wine and trade – all online.

ootra. is a small emerging family business itself. Director Richard van Ruth says the app is an exciting and timely step forward for the Australian wine community.

“We are home to a radical new community of independent winemakers and passionate hospitality professionals, connecting and trading in real time,” he says.

“We are excited to provide an avenue for small-batch wine producers to sell their wines.  Equally, we know we have addressed many pain-points for buyers, saving them time and allowing them to create unique and authentic wine lists for their venues.”

Streamlining and simplifying distribution is at the core of ootra. An order can be placed online 24/7 and automatic invoicing, payments and order fulfillment ensues. Orders are tracked online until delivery is received.

The ootra. cru – a panel of winemakers and sommeliers – will develop and select the portfolio mix, frequently tasting wines to curate their own wine ‘play’ lists. They will also hand-select wine producers to feature on the site.

The only cost is when wine is purchased from the site; ootra retains a percentage of the sale.

ootra. sponsors the Young Gun of Wine Awards and is co-hosting trade previews of the 2018 line-up.
