Heinrich Cooperage is continuing to diversify its barrel portfolio to showcase the breadth of aromas and flavours American oak can impart.
This year, Heinrich introduced Cadence, a new barrel that is flipped at regular intervals throughout an extended, low temperature toast. As a result, Cadence offers excellent structure, mid palate weight and complexity.
Tastings in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and South Africa confirm Cadence heightens overall fruit expression and offers excellent weight on the palate.
For whites, Cadence is known to offer lifted aromatics, vibrant fruit, nougat, cashew, and supple tannins.
For reds, this barrel showcases pronounced fruit, light toast character, texture with length and integration.
Winemakers are now utilising Cadence barrels in programs for chardonnay, viognier, sémillon, fumé style sauvignon blanc and petit manseng, pinot noir and medium-bodied reds.
