First Drop Wines 2016 Fat of The Land Single Vineyard Ebenezer Shiraz ($100) has received 95 points from leading wine writer Mike Bennie in WBM – Australia’s Wine Business Magazine.

“It’s a broad-shouldered wine of immense concentration and power,” Mike writes.

“It moves like a slow freight train across the palate, lumbering with ripe plum, dark berries, vanilla cream and sweet spice and layers of flavours – so much going on with cuddly tannins and ultra-smooth texture.

“Quite an impression made here. An epic, big wine.”

Mike also gave 92 points to First Drop Wines 2019 Adelaide Hills Endless Summer Pinot Grigio ($25)  in the same issue of the magazine.

“This does ‘Grigio’ as a concept great justice,” Mike writes.

“While there’s whiffs of riper pear and nashi pear character, the palate is tangy and grassy, crisp and refreshing, lean and pretty, though still shows the DNA of green pear expected from the variety.

“It’s a straight up pleasure to drink, ticking many boxes for many humans.”

The two wines feature in the Trade section of the magazine in which Mike Bennie and Tyson Stelzer review 100 of the best wines they’ve tasted recently.

• Please note that the prices for these two wines were switched by mistake in the magazine. Our apologies.
